How to Change a Euro cylinder

The EVVA ICS Euro Thumbturn Cylinder is a high-security locking solution designed for both residential and commercial applications. Combining multiple locking technologies, including a unique track-cut system and a durable length profile, it offers a high level of physical protection against common methods of attack. The internal thumbturn allows for quick and easy locking or unlocking from the inside without the need for a key, making it ideal for exit doors and everyday convenience.

Technical security is a core feature of the ICS range. The cylinder is 1-star Kitemarked and features integrated protection against picking, scanning, and drilling. Its modular SYMO design includes chrome-vanadium pins and a steel rod to specifically resist plug pulling attempts. Additionally, the patented key section is restricted, meaning replacement keys can only be produced with authorised documentation, ensuring total control over the security of the property.

Typical applications include front and back doors, office entrances, and any location where high-frequency use is expected. The 90-minute fire rating ensures the cylinder maintains its integrity in emergency situations. This cylinder is frequently used as a replacement part for existing Euro-profile locks or as part of a new high-security installation, and it can be integrated into master key suites where one key operates multiple locks across a site.

The EVVA ICS features a fully restricted key section with a patented design protected until 2038. This provides complete control over key duplication, as copies can only be made through authorised suppliers, preventing unauthorised individuals from cutting spare keys for your property.

This cylinder is 1-Star Kitemarked (EN1303:2015) and offers robust resistance against common attack methods. It includes:

  • Chrome-vanadium elements to protect against drilling and plug pulling.
  • Split scanning elements and hidden gates to prevent lock-picking and scanning.
  • A 90-minute fire rating for enhanced safety.

Unlike standard dimple keys, the ICS uses a track-cut system with internal recesses and a curve system. This design offers a much smoother operation during insertion and removal while providing superior security through multiple layers of locking technology.

Standard cylinders that are keyed differ come with 2 keys each. However, if you order multiple cylinders as a "keyed alike" set (where one key opens all locks), you will receive a total of 2 keys for the entire set. Additional keys can be ordered if required.

The EVVA ICS Key Cut to Code is a high-security replacement or additional key designed specifically for the EVVA Internal Code System (ICS). This system utilises a combination of different locking technologies, including a concealed internal track, to provide a high level of protection against unauthorised duplication and picking.

Manufactured from a robust nickel silver alloy, these keys are 3mm thick, ensuring they withstand the rigours of daily use while resisting bending and wear. The reversible design allows the key to be inserted into the cylinder in either orientation, improving user convenience and reducing wear on the internal components of the lock. The specially shaped tip assists with smooth insertion, even in low-light conditions.

These keys are cut using precision computer-controlled machinery to ensure an exact match to the original code provided. They are typically used for residential or commercial properties already fitted with EVVA ICS cylinders that require additional user keys or replacements for lost ones. Please note that these keys are only compatible with locks originally supplied by Lockshop Warehouse on our specific registered key section.

Classroom Function (One-Way Thumbturn)

The Classroom Function restricts the thumbturn to rotate in only one direction (reversible upon request), allowing the door to be unlocked from the inside, but not locked—a key safety feature in emergency situations.

  • Available on key & turn cylinders only

  • Supplied with SOSE (Special Order Side Engagement) as standard

  • Prevents internal locking, ensuring doors can always be opened from the inside

  • Ideal for classrooms and similar environments where internal locking must be avoided for safety
