Each group of locks will then receive keys.

The Master Lock override key is a functional accessory designed for use with specific resettable combination padlocks. It provides an essential alternative access method, allowing the lock to be opened independently of the set combination code.

Typical applications include:

  • School and gym lockers
  • Employee storage units
  • Shared facility management

Commonly utilised in environments where administrative oversight is required, this key allows for emergency entry should a user forget their code. Beyond simple access, it enables the resetting of the combination mechanism on compatible Master Lock units. This key is intended for use with existing hardware that incorporates a keyway for override purposes, ensuring reliable operation without the need for destructive entry.

FAQs

This is the most important point to get right so you don't leave your home vulnerable to attack. The best way to get the correct size is to remove the cylinder from the door. (see the help page for instructions to do this). Once you have the cylinder out the door you need to measure from one side of the cylinder to the center of the fixing screw hole and then the same from the other side. Make a note of which is the inside measurement and which is the outside. Once you have this you need to match the size to the sizes available online. You want to get this as exact as possible. The cylinder sizes go up in increments of 5mm.

How to remove and measure your Euro Cylinders

Yes this is possible. We offer the ABUS Pfaffenhain range of padlocks and also we can purchase Euro Cylinder to a Kitemarked level and Rim cylinders which can all be keyed alike or Masterkeyed.

Yes, for most Master Lock resettable combination padlocks, this control key is required to unlock the mechanism so a new combination can be programmed. Having a spare ensures you can always update your security settings.

Depending on your padlock model, this key often serves as an emergency override. It allows you to open the lock and reset the code if the original combination is forgotten or lost.

Ordering an extra key at the same time as your padlock ensures that the key is perfectly matched to your specific lock's internal mechanism, saving you the hassle of trying to source a duplicate later.

This key is manufactured from high-quality solid brass. Brass is the industry standard for keys because it is durable, resistant to rust, and provides a smooth operation within the lock's cylinder.
