The UNION CodeGUARD 5 is a mechanical push-button lock for controlled entry on suitable timber or metal doors. Its lever handles and supplied deadlocking latch form the assembly tested to BS 8607 Grade 5, rather than relying on an unrelated existing latch.

A tested lock-and-latch assembly

CodeGUARD 5 combines its keypad and automatic deadlocking latch in the BS 8607 Grade 5 tested assembly. That is different from adding a code-operated handle to an unrelated lockcase. For a replacement or fire-door application, match the complete assembly and the appropriate fitting assessment, not just the outside keypad.

Fitting and setup

  • Measure the door thickness, backset and existing fixing positions against the exact model drawing.
  • Set the new code and test the outside control, inside operation and latch engagement with the door open before closing it.

Yes, this digital lock is suitable for fire doors, providing 30 and 60 minutes of fire resistance on timber doors and up to 240 minutes on metal doors. Note that an intumescent kit is required when installing on timber fire doors.

The CodeGuard 5 features over 2,000 potential combinations. To enhance security out of the box, each lock is issued with its own individual unique code to deter opportunists before a custom code is set.

CodeGUARD 5 is Kitemarked to BS 8607 Grade 5 for its mechanical push-button lock assembly and has Secured by Design accreditation. BS 8607 is the relevant standard here; it should not be described as BS EN 8607 or as a blanket substitute for a separate BS 3621 requirement.

The CodeGuard 5 is highly versatile and can be installed on both timber and metal doors. It features a non-handed design suitable for either left or right-handed applications and is supplied with all necessary fixings and a latch.
