tick Key Profile: Standard

The Asec Kite range of Euro double cylinders is designed to provide high-level security for both residential and commercial door applications. These cylinders are engineered to achieve a TS 007 1 Star rating, offering a robust barrier against common forced entry techniques. They are a suitable choice for upgrading existing security or for new installations where a Euro profile lock is required.

Technical security features include sacrificial anti-snap lines; in the event of an attempted attack, the cylinder breaks at a predetermined point, leaving the central locking mechanism secure and operational. Resistance to manipulation is further enhanced by anti-drill pins, a specialised anti-pick driver profile, and a dedicated BKP anti-bump device fitted as standard.

These cylinders are BSI Kitemarked and fully compliant with BS EN 1303:2005 standards, ensuring they meet the performance requirements for durability and security. They function as a double-sided locking mechanism, allowing the door to be locked or unlocked with a key from either the interior or exterior side.

FAQs

This is the most important point to get right so you don't leave your home vulnerable to attack. The best way to get the correct size is to remove the cylinder from the door. (see the help page for instructions to do this). Once you have the cylinder out the door you need to measure from one side of the cylinder to the center of the fixing screw hole and then the same from the other side. Make a note of which is the inside measurement and which is the outside. Once you have this you need to match the size to the sizes available online. You want to get this as exact as possible. The cylinder sizes go up in increments of 5mm.

Yes this is possible. We offer the ABUS Pfaffenhain range of padlocks and also we can purchase Euro Cylinder to a Kitemarked level and Rim cylinders which can all be keyed alike or Masterkeyed.

No unfortunately not, the cylinders internals need to be changed to operate with a thumbturn so you have to replace your lock with a new cylinder. Sometimes we can offer you the same key as you already have on the new cylinder but only if its a brand we stock and can assemble for you.

Yes, this is called keyed alike. We build the cylinders for you to match 1 x set of keys. Please note you will only get 1 x set of keys with however many cylinders you order. So if you order 5 x Cylinders keyed alike you will only get 1 x set of keys. We can make you additional keys to match the cylinder at the same time.

The cylinders we can offer have different features, some are low basic security for internal doors to student bedrooms and others are for external doors which need to be more secure with all the high security features. The amount of pins is a good indication of security. 5 pins are the basic and 6 pins is better. The best external cylinders are kitemarked cylinders, the ABS or KABA GEGE 3 star are the top level and then we have an ABUS 1 star kitemarked cylinder with our restricted key section. Most insurance companies will now require you to have a kitemarked cylinder on the UPVC or Composite doors to give the best security.

It depends on what suits you, however, there are situations where one would be better suited for the job.

If you are using the lock on a house of multiple occupancy, you would need access for fire safety, therefore a Thumbturn would need to be fitted. This ensures that in the event of a fire, you are able to escape without having to search for a key before exiting the building. If the cylinder is for a residential property, the same fire safety can be applied, but it's not essential to have a thumb turn lock fitted. You can still fit the euro double cylinder, but it's always a good idea to keep your keys in a safe place where every member of the household knows where they are.

This cylinder is engineered to resist common forced entry methods. It features a snap-resistant design with break-away sections, anti-bump BKP technology, a special driver profile to resist picking, and a drill-resistant internal configuration.

Yes, these cylinders are BSI Kitemarked and carry a TS 007 1 Star rating. They are compliant with BS EN 1303:2005 and TS007 2012 standards, ensuring a high level of safety and quality for domestic and commercial applications.

The placement of anti-snap lines depends on the cylinder size:

  • Offset lengths: Feature anti-snap lines on both sides of the cylinder.
  • Equal split cylinders: Designed with a single anti-snap fault line on one side only.

Yes, these cylinders are available keyed alike as a special order. Please note that keyed alike cylinder sets will be supplied with a total of 3 keys for the entire order, rather than 3 keys per individual cylinder.

The ASEC Extra Key is a precision-cut mechanical key designed specifically for the ASEC range of pin-tumbler cylinder locks. These keys serve as high-quality replacements or additional copies for existing security systems, ensuring smooth operation and reduced wear on the internal lock components.

Typical applications include providing spare keys for family members, employees, or tenants. Because they are cut to specific codes, they maintain the integrity of the locking mechanism better than generic alternatives. They are compatible across various ASEC formats, including euro profile, oval, and rim cylinders.
