Latch Only

The Asec Mila Copy Latch Only Replacement Gearbox is an aftermarket centre case for compatible old-style Mila latch-only locks. It is not a genuine Mila-manufactured part. The choices offered here have 25mm or 35mm backset, 92mm PZ centres and a single spindle.

The supplier specifies a reversible latch, a 234mm case height and unthreaded attachment points requiring the correct self-tapping screws. Compare the selected case width, routing, fixing positions and connecting mechanism with the original lock. This product replaces the centre case only, not the full strip.

Older connector arrangements: these replacements have inline connectors. The supplier describes an adaptation for some older offset or cranked connections. That is a conditional repair procedure, not a universal fitting guarantee or an invitation to file an arbitrary lock component. A competent fitter should confirm that the exact original strip and replacement are covered by the appropriate instructions before any modification.

In the compatible complete lock, the supplier describes lifting the lever to engage the secondary locking points and turning the cylinder key to secure the mechanism. Have the complete assembly checked for free operation after fitting.

This case has 92mm PZ centres, but that measurement alone does not confirm either handle or gearbox compatibility. Match the spindle, fixings, door thickness, original case, backset and connector arrangement. The current choices are 25mm and 35mm backsets.

The latch is fully reversible to suit both left and right-hand opening doors. To reverse it, simply remove the screw located on the side of the case, flip the latch head over, and refit the screw securely.

The supplier specifies unthreaded attachment points requiring the correct self-tapping screws. Screw size, case fit and connector engagement must be checked for the actual locking strip. Have a competent fitter assess the replacement and follow the appropriate instructions rather than treating it as a universal screw-in part.

The replacement uses inline connectors. The supplier describes adapting some older offset/cranked connections, but this must be confirmed for the exact original lock and replacement by a competent fitter. Do not assume that filing a connector makes an otherwise incompatible case suitable; obtain the correct version-specific instructions before modifying the original mechanism.
