If ordering 4 or more keyed alike locks you can have them set up as different groups. If Required: Let us know the details in the "Specific Key Requirements" field above.

Each group of locks will then receive keys.

4/10 Security Rating

The Asec Traditional Nightlatch Case Only is a surface-mounted rim lock solution designed for use on timber doors. This product is supplied as the lock body and keep assembly only, allowing for maximum flexibility when selecting an external cylinder. It is an ideal choice for trade professionals and DIY users looking to replace a worn or faulty lock body while retaining an existing high-security or keyed-alike cylinder.

Functionally, the unit features a spring-loaded latch that automatically engages when the door is closed. The integrated snib button provides two essential modes: it can be used to 'hold back' the latch for periods of high traffic or to 'deadlock' the bolt from the inside, preventing the latch from being retracted by a key from the outside.

Typical applications include residential front doors and internal office doors where a simple latching mechanism is required. As it is a case-only product, it is frequently used in new installations where custom cylinder configurations, such as those part of a master key system, are necessary. It is designed for standard door thicknesses and is compatible with most universal rim cylinders.

FAQs

No unfortunately not, the BS3621 nightlatches can not be reversed. The only way to do this is to install a standard nightlatch from our outward opening nightlatch section and then also install a BS3621 deadlock. This deadlock will give you the insurance rating required.

You need to make sure the lock you fit is NON deadlocking. This means that you can not lock people into the property. There are a few nightlatches designed for these doors. The best is the Yale PBS3 or PBS4 or a more standard model would be the Yale 88 or 84.

The best locks for these would be the a rollerbolt style lock with a masterkeyed cylinder. I would not recommend installing a standard Nightlatch on these doors as the tenants can lock themselves out if they close the door behind them. We can supply these locks for you on a masterkey if you require or keyed differ if you would prefer.

The backset on these locks is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the Rim Cylinder. This is the large 32mm hole drilled through the door. There are 2 main sizes of these, 60mm or 40mm. Easiest way to find out what you have is to measure from outside of the door from the edge to the center of the keyhole. If you have a solid door you should use the 60mm backset locks, if you have a glass panelled door then you may need to use the 40mm backset. If your current lock is 50mm backset you will need to see our Union locks as only Union made a 50mm backset lock in the past.

There are different levels of security you can have with all locks. The standard locks (i.e. Yale 77, Yale 88) , then the mid level locks which can be key deadlocked from outside ( Yale 89, Union nightlatches). The double locking versions are only suitable for homes with other means of exit as you can lock people inside the house if not careful.

All the extra keys for the locks are cut to the specific locks that have been ordered.

With most locks that are altered to make them keyed alike you will only get 1 x set of keys with them. So if the locks normally come with 2 you will only get 2 keys total and if they come with 3 keys you will only get 3 x keys total when ordered keyed alike.

This product includes the main nightlatch body, the strike plate (keep), and fixings. It does not include the external rim cylinder or keys, making it an ideal replacement if your existing lock case is damaged or if you are planning to use a specific keyed-alike cylinder.

The snib button on the side of the case serves two purposes:

  • It can hold the latch bolt in the retracted position to prevent the door from locking.
  • It can be used to deadlock the latch from the inside for added security when you are at home.

Yes, the latch bolt is reversible. This allows the unit to be installed on doors opening in either direction. Simply pull and rotate the brass latch bolt to suit your specific door orientation during installation.

Choosing a case-only unit is cost-effective when you already have a functioning rim cylinder or when you want to create a keyed-alike system. This allows you to purchase a separate high-security or master-keyed cylinder to use with this standard traditional case.
