All the extra keys for the locks are cut to the specific locks that have been ordered.
There are 2 different sizes of lock cases as each lock will give you a different backset. This is the distance from the edge of the lock to the keyhole / spindle for handles. The bigger locks are better for solid wooden doors as they move the keyhole away from the door stop further. If you have a large door stop and fit a 64mm lock case you can find that you hit your knuckles on the door stop when you turn the key. Alternatively the 64mm lock case is better when you have a glass panelled door as you may not have enough wood on the stile to fit the 76mm lock into before you hit and therefore smash the glass. This is very important to check when installing locks to doors with glass in.
No, if the door is a communal entrance/ exit you MUST have a turn on the inside, so a 5 lever key on the inside is not suitable.
There are specific locks we sell called Egress locks that meet both the Insurance and Fire regulations so these are suitable for communal entrance doors.
To meet the fire regulations you need to be able to exit a communal door without the use of a key. If you are using the lock on your personal front door then they are fine but if others use the door you need to look into getting a turn knob internally so you can exit without the use of a key.
With outward opening doors you can not get a BS3621 outward opening nightlatch (see our section for all the options we have available) but if you install a standard security nightlatch you can also fit a BS3621 deadlock to the door which will give you the insurance rated lock required. As the deadlocks are not handed you can use them on any type of wooden door.
With most locks that are altered to make them keyed alike you will only get 1 x set of keys with them. So if the locks normally come with 2 you will only get 2 keys total and if they come with 3 keys you will only get 3 x keys total when ordered keyed alike.
Yes you can, we would need a key back as we dont hold any records of your keys but this is possible. Please get in touch first so we can confirm everything is ok to do and then you can post your key back to us (taped to a piece of card...essential!!)
Yes, this is possible but it is important to make sure you select the same brand and model. The internals and the keys need to match so we can key the locks alike.
We do try to list the products together in our series tab on the product page which should show the suitable products that can be keyed alike together.
If in doubt please ask us and we will let you know.
A rebate set is only required on double rebated doors. If you only have a single door then you will receive all the parts you require with the lock. If you need a rebate set you will need to check the size of your rebate. The most common is 13mm but on older doors they can be 19mm or 25mm.
With the 5 lever locks they are designed to be high security so there are thousands of different keys so the keys do not come with numbers on. Therefore we can not cut additional keys for these locks without a key to copy from. If you post it back to us we can do it for you (please contact us first before you send it) or alternatively nearly all the keys we sell are available from local locksmiths in your area. They maybe more expensive so we would recommend buying the extra keys at the time of purchase so we can cut and try them before we ship the order.
Sashlocks are typically suitable for both left- and right-handed doors, as well as inward- and outward-opening applications. They are designed to be reversible on site, making installation flexible and straightforward.
Depending on the brand and model, latch reversal can be done in one of two ways:
Pull and twist the latch bolt to the desired position
Remove a retaining screw on the back of the lock case, rotate the latch, then refit the screw
This allows for easy adjustment during installation without the need for specialized tools.
