FAQs

Not generally. Mounting patterns, cable entries and enclosure dimensions vary. Use the accessory's stated compatible models rather than assuming a universal fit.

No. A junction box provides a mounting and cable-management arrangement. Camera power must be provided separately using equipment that meets the camera specification.

No. Voltage, current capacity, polarity and connector type must all match the device. A recorder-specific supply is not automatically suitable for cameras or other equipment.

It supports standards-compliant IEEE 802.3af/at powered devices, including compatible wired Ajax IP cameras. Check the exact camera model and keep the combined power demand within the switch's shared PoE budget.

No. 4 Gigabit RJ45 PoE ports; 1 Gigabit RJ45 uplink. Use the PoE ports for powered cameras and the separate uplink connections for the recorder or wider network.

It supports web management and Ruijie Cloud. Camera-oriented controls include PoE watchdog, port isolation and port-based VLAN configuration.

Focus on the approach. Keep the detail.

BulletCam makes the direction of your surveillance clear. Its adjustable mount helps frame a driveway, side passage or entrance, with the live view and recordings available in the Ajax app.

True WDR balances bright and dark parts of a scene. At a sunlit entrance it helps keep a person visible rather than losing their face in shadow. Smart IR adjusts infrared illumination at night to reduce overexposure when someone approaches.

The range includes 5 MP and 8 MP cameras with a fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens. Resolution determines recorded detail; the lens changes the width of the view. These are different model choices, not an adjustable optical zoom.

СMOS sensor

Compare the cameras. A shape and view for your space.

Activity worth your attention.

On-device recognition distinguishes people, pets and vehicles. Combine detection areas with event filters to spend less time searching through irrelevant movement.

Why Ajax? One connected ecosystem.

See the whole picture.

View your cameras in the Ajax app. If you add a compatible Ajax alarm, video scenarios can link an alarm event to the relevant camera view. Start with surveillance and add other protection when you need it.

Surveillance

Protection that works together.

A compatible Ajax hub connects your alarm devices, while the app brings alerts and camera views together. Build around your property and add protection as your needs change.

Compatible FireProtect detectors can sound together when interconnection is configured. With a linked hub, fire alerts also reach the Ajax app.

Private areas stay private.

Privacy masks hide sensitive parts of the image, such as a neighbouring window. Detection zones have a different job: they decide where movement should trigger attention. Separate permissions control who can view live video, recordings and settings, with two-factor authentication and session controls protecting account access.

Built for everyday service.

A metal enclosure protects the camera, while its built-in accelerometer reports impacts and attempts to dismantle it. The microphone adds sound to recordings where enabled. Recording can use a compatible microSD card up to 256 GB, or a separate Ajax NVR and hard drive. Check the selected model for its environmental and impact ratings.

What you need. Fitting and setup.

Before installation

  • Plan a Cat6 Ethernet cable run to the back of each camera. For PoE, connect the other end to a compatible PoE NVR camera port or a PoE switch connected to your network. A suitable PoE injector is another option.
  • Without PoE, the camera needs its specified 12 V DC supply as well as the Ethernet connection. Standard Ajax NVR and NVR H recorders do not supply camera PoE power.
  • For recordings, add a compatible microSD card or a network recorder with a suitable drive. Recording storage, network cabling and power equipment are separate requirements.

Fitting and setup

Have the installer check the view and cable route before fixing the camera. Use suitable fixings, protect external connections with the specified waterproof connector and seal cable entries. Add the camera to the Ajax app, adjust its view, configure recording and detection areas, and test day and night coverage.

An Ajax alarm hub is optional for linked alarm features; it does not replace the camera power supply or video recorder.

Power and network equipment

For one camera on an existing non-PoE network, the Grandstream injector provides active PoE+ power: connect the network to its LAN input and the camera to its PoE output. For several cameras, a suitable Uniview or Reyee PoE switch provides powered camera ports and a separate network uplink.

Use one suitable power route, not an injector and a PoE switch for the same camera. Match the camera's PoE requirement and maximum power demand, both per port and against the switch's shared budget. Keep the switch or injector indoors; outdoor cameras still need protected connections and suitable cable routing.

Finish the installation. Power and mounting.

The power options below are alternatives, not equipment needed together. An injector powers one camera; a PoE switch supports several. Mounts and junction boxes are separate optional accessories with model-specific compatibility.

Ajax Baseline

Keep the moments that matter. Without a bulky recorder.

Ajax NVR brings multiple camera streams into a compact recorder. View and search footage through the Ajax apps while the archive stays on a compatible local hard drive.

NVR

The archive, neatly contained.

A single compatible SATA hard drive, up to 16 TB, stores the footage locally. Eight- and sixteen-channel versions suit different camera counts, without changing the way you use the Ajax apps.

Ajax NVR placed in a domestic network cupboard

Recording without a noisy desktop box.

The original NVR uses a compact, fanless enclosure with one SATA drive bay. Its eight- and sixteen-channel models suit shared recording for several cameras without putting a computer beside them. Viewing and configuration take place in Ajax apps; this model has no HDMI monitor output.

Ajax NVR enclosure and hard-drive installation

Privacy includes the archive.

Authorised users control access to live video and recordings. Ajax supports two-factor authentication, session management and separate permissions for video access. The recorder monitors the hard drive and reports problems through the app, helping you check that the system is still recording as intended.

An Ajax video view is locked when access expires

Bring supported cameras together.

ONVIF Profile G and S and RTSP provide connections to compatible third-party cameras alongside Ajax video devices. Pixel-based motion detection can define recording areas, while available AI filters depend on the connected camera. An ONVIF connection does not automatically provide all of a camera manufacturer's proprietary features.

Ajax and compatible third-party cameras connected to an NVR

The right recorder. For the way you use it.

Compare this recorder with the alternatives below. Match camera capacity, screen connections, recording storage and power to your installation. You need one suitable recorder for this role, not all of them. Hard drives are supplied separately.

Only the PoE-equipped H2D models power compatible wired cameras directly. Other versions need a separate PoE switch, injectors or the camera's specified power supply.

A moment, easier to find.

Event filters and configurable motion-detection areas make a long archive more useful. Use the timeline to find activity, rather than treating every hour of footage as equally important.

Your whole property. In one view.

See the front door, driveway and garden together instead of opening each camera in turn. Arrange the Ajax video wall around the views that matter to you, and check them from a compatible phone, computer or TV app.

Separate the three jobs. Network, power and recording.

NVR Network Video Recorder uses 110-240 V AC. It records network camera streams but has no PoE camera-power ports. Connect cameras through suitable network equipment and power them separately. The hard drive is supplied separately; a hub is only needed for the associated alarm functions, not basic video recording.

This manufacturer diagram shows video and network communication, not a physical power-wiring plan. Installation requirements depend on the exact equipment.

Ajax video communication diagram. Network links are shown; separate power wiring is not.

Build around it. Real products. The right connections.

These are compatible camera choices and separately supplied power options. Use one suitable switch to power wired PoE cameras; it does not power the recorder itself. IndoorCam and DoorBell have their own power arrangements.

What you need. Fitting and setup.

Before installation

  • A suitable mains supply for the recorder and an Ethernet connection to your router or network switch.
  • A compatible recording drive, supplied separately. Fit and secure it inside the recorder with the power disconnected.
  • Separate power for the cameras: for PoE cameras, plan Cat6 runs to a suitable PoE switch or injector. This recorder has no camera PoE outputs.

Fitting and setup

Place the recorder securely with ventilation space, connect it to the same network as the cameras, then add it to the Ajax app. Add the cameras, configure storage and recording schedules, and test playback and user permissions before handover.

This model is managed through Ajax apps; it has no HDMI monitor output.

Powering the cameras, not the recorder

For wired PoE cameras, the Uniview switches provide 4, 8 or 16 powered ports; the 16-port Reyee is another managed option. Connect the switch's network uplink to the same network as the recorder. Match powered-port count and the shared PoE budget to the cameras, allowing for their maximum demand rather than treating channel capacity as a power rating.

These switches power compatible Ethernet cameras, not the recorder itself, IndoorCam or DoorBell. The recorder still needs its own specified supply. Keep networking equipment indoors with ventilation space.
