The Winkhaus AV2 is an advanced automatic multipoint locking system engineered for timber and composite doors. The two hooks engage automatically when the door closes, without lifting the handle. This does not automatically throw the central deadbolt: it is operated separately by the key or an appropriate thumbturn. When an outside lever is fitted, Winkhaus specifies that the key must still be used to lock the door.
This lock is constructed with a 20mm square faceplate and is designed for use with a standard Euro profile cylinder. Its mechanical operation uses a single handle spindle for release and a Euro profile cylinder for the deadbolt, making it a reliable choice for both replacement and new installation projects where high security and ease of use are required.
A notable feature of the AV2 range is its modular compatibility with electronic access systems. The lock can be retrofitted with a 12v electronic motor, transforming the mechanical system into the blueMatic AV2-E. This allows for integration with modern access control solutions such as entry phones, remote fobs, or biometric readers, where the hooks and latch are withdrawn electronically for convenience.
Electronic upgrade requirements: The AV2 range can be upgraded to blueMatic AV2-E with a compatible motor. Match the actual lock generation and motor mounting before ordering. Electronic release also needs the specified low-voltage power supply, cable/door-frame transition and a suitable access-control trigger; a motor alone is not a complete installation kit. Do not connect the lock motor directly to mains power.
Replacement checks: compare the original backset, faceplate width/end shape, hook positions, handing and frame keeps with the supplied lock. The range guide is not a substitute for the exact machining drawing.
