For added versatility, the AS2300 includes an optional hold-open facility; a sliding switch allows the latch to be retracted for periods of unrestricted access, though this can be disabled using the provided blanking plate if security is the primary concern.

The device supports over 1,000 code combinations, with codes typically ranging from 4 to 7 digits. It is designed for medium-duty use in both internal and external applications, providing a robust first line of defence for various entry points. The unit features a thumbturn on the exterior for entry once the correct code is entered, and a free-exit thumbturn on the interior for safety.
