The rim-lock choice with key-bypass access

The 938 adds a key-bypass route to this mechanical rim-lock format. That is useful when an authorised keyholder needs entry without the shared code. Compare the 917 and 919 latch packages against the existing door thickness and strike arrangement rather than assuming all 900-series units are the same replacement.

Fitting and setup

  • Measure the door thickness, backset and existing fixing positions against the exact model drawing.
  • Set the new code and test the outside control, inside operation and latch engagement with the door open before closing it.

FAQs

Key bypass lets an authorised keyholder open the mechanical lock without entering the shared combination. This is a separate access route for managers or when the code is unavailable; the keypad itself has no electronic power supply.

Yes, this model is designed for durability and is well-suited for both commercial and residential environments. Its robust construction ensures reliable performance even in settings where the lock is used frequently throughout the day.

The lock is battery-powered and typically includes a low-battery indicator to alert you when power is running low. Should the batteries fail completely before replacement, the physical key bypass allows you to unlock the unit manually.

The Kaba 938 (NLM200) supports multiple user codes, allowing you to grant access to different individuals without sharing a single master combination. This makes it a flexible solution for offices or shared residential buildings.
