When ordering multiple Keyed Alike locks, only 1 set of keys are provided as all additional locks are made to work from that key.
If ordering 4 or more keyed alike locks you can have them set up as different groups. If Required: Let us know the details in the "Specific Key Requirements" field above.
Each group of locks will then receive keys.
The Yale PBS1 is a high-security rim nightlatch designed to provide British Standard protection for timber doors. It is specifically recommended for glass-panelled doors, as the internal handle can be deadlocked with a key. This prevents an intruder from reaching through broken glass to operate the handle from the inside.
Functionally, the unit features an automatic deadlocking mechanism, which ensures the bolt is secured against end pressure as soon as the door is closed. The internal handle can be locked in either the withdrawn or extended position for added security and control. For convenience, the lock includes a snib button that can hold the bolt back, allowing for free entry when required.
Security and Compatibility
Certified to BS3621:2007, this nightlatch meets the stringent requirements of insurance providers. It is supplied with a high-security six-pin external cylinder and an extended striking plate that distributes the force of an attack across a wider area of the door frame. It is suitable for both new installations and as a replacement for existing standard rim locks where a security upgrade is needed.

No unfortunately not, the BS3621 nightlatches can not be reversed. The only way to do this is to install a standard nightlatch from our outward opening nightlatch section and then also install a BS3621 deadlock. This deadlock will give you the insurance rating required.
You need to make sure the lock you fit is NON deadlocking. This means that you can not lock people into the property. There are a few nightlatches designed for these doors. The best is the Yale PBS3 or PBS4 or a more standard model would be the Yale 88 or 84.
The best locks for these would be the a rollerbolt style lock with a masterkeyed cylinder. I would not recommend installing a standard Nightlatch on these doors as the tenants can lock themselves out if they close the door behind them. We can supply these locks for you on a masterkey if you require or keyed differ if you would prefer.
The backset on these locks is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the Rim Cylinder. This is the large 32mm hole drilled through the door. There are 2 main sizes of these, 60mm or 40mm. Easiest way to find out what you have is to measure from outside of the door from the edge to the center of the keyhole. If you have a solid door you should use the 60mm backset locks, if you have a glass panelled door then you may need to use the 40mm backset. If your current lock is 50mm backset you will need to see our Union locks as only Union made a 50mm backset lock in the past.
There are different levels of security you can have with all locks. The standard locks (i.e. Yale 77, Yale 88) , then the mid level locks which can be key deadlocked from outside ( Yale 89, Union nightlatches). The double locking versions are only suitable for homes with other means of exit as you can lock people inside the house if not careful.
All the extra keys for the locks are cut to the specific locks that have been ordered.
With most locks that are altered to make them keyed alike you will only get 1 x set of keys with them. So if the locks normally come with 2 you will only get 2 keys total and if they come with 3 keys you will only get 3 x keys total when ordered keyed alike.
Yes, the Yale PBS1 is Kitemarked to BS3621:2007. This certification means it meets the high-security specifications often required by insurance companies for external wooden doors.
The internal lever handle can be locked with a key. This prevents an intruder from breaking a glass panel and reaching inside to open the door using the handle, providing a significant security advantage for glazed doors.
Yes, the internal unit features a push button that allows you to hold the bolt back in the withdrawn position. This is ideal for when you need to go in and out of the house frequently without needing a key every time the door shuts.
Yes, this model is designed with an ergonomic lever handle rather than a traditional small knob. It is specifically engineered to be easy to operate, making it a great choice for the elderly or those with reduced manual dexterity.

PBSKEY ( of Stock)
The Extra Key for Yale PBS Locks is a precision-manufactured component designed to operate the cylinder mechanism of the Yale PBS series rim locks. These keys are used when additional access points are required for multiple residents or staff members, or to provide a secure backup in the event of a lost original.
Commonly utilised in residential and commercial settings, these keys integrate seamlessly with the internal security pins of the PBS lock range. They are ideal for providing spare keys for new tenants or family members and replacing worn or damaged keys to maintain smooth lock function.
As a specific accessory for the Yale PBS range, these keys maintain the integrity of the security system, ensuring that the deadlocking and latching functions remain fully operational from the external side of the door. Use of genuine-profile keys ensures long-term reliability and prevents premature wear of the cylinder pins.
