Key Configuration

When ordering multiple Keyed Alike locks, only 1 set of keys are provided as all additional locks are made to work from that key.
If ordering 4 or more keyed alike locks you can have them set up as different groups. If Required: Let us know the details in the "Specific Key Requirements" field above.
Each group of locks will then receive keys.
The Yale PBS4 is a high-security escape nightlatch designed for timber doors where safety and security are equally paramount. Certified to BS8621 standards, it satisfies insurance requirements while ensuring that residents can exit a building quickly in an emergency without needing a key. This makes it particularly suitable for communal entrance doors and flats.
The unit features automatic deadlocking, which secures the bolt against end-pressure as soon as the door is closed. For daily convenience, an internal snib allows the bolt to be held back, preventing the door from locking when necessary. The internal handle is ergonomically designed for ease of use, making it accessible for all users while maintaining a constant escape route.
Installation is typically for new fitments or as a replacement for existing standard nightlatches on solid wood doors. It comes supplied with a high-security 6-pin cylinder and an extended strike plate, which reinforces the door jamb against forced entry attempts.

No unfortunately not, the BS3621 nightlatches can not be reversed. The only way to do this is to install a standard nightlatch from our outward opening nightlatch section and then also install a BS3621 deadlock. This deadlock will give you the insurance rating required.
You need to make sure the lock you fit is NON deadlocking. This means that you can not lock people into the property. There are a few nightlatches designed for these doors. The best is the Yale PBS3 or PBS4 or a more standard model would be the Yale 88 or 84.
The best locks for these would be the a rollerbolt style lock with a masterkeyed cylinder. I would not recommend installing a standard Nightlatch on these doors as the tenants can lock themselves out if they close the door behind them. We can supply these locks for you on a masterkey if you require or keyed differ if you would prefer.
The backset on these locks is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the Rim Cylinder. This is the large 32mm hole drilled through the door. There are 2 main sizes of these, 60mm or 40mm. Easiest way to find out what you have is to measure from outside of the door from the edge to the center of the keyhole. If you have a solid door you should use the 60mm backset locks, if you have a glass panelled door then you may need to use the 40mm backset. If your current lock is 50mm backset you will need to see our Union locks as only Union made a 50mm backset lock in the past.
There are different levels of security you can have with all locks. The standard locks (i.e. Yale 77, Yale 88) , then the mid level locks which can be key deadlocked from outside ( Yale 89, Union nightlatches). The double locking versions are only suitable for homes with other means of exit as you can lock people inside the house if not careful.
All the extra keys for the locks are cut to the specific locks that have been ordered.
With most locks that are altered to make them keyed alike you will only get 1 x set of keys with them. So if the locks normally come with 2 you will only get 2 keys total and if they come with 3 keys you will only get 3 x keys total when ordered keyed alike.
This nightlatch is specifically designed for emergency egress, meaning it can always be opened from the inside using the handle without the need for a key. This functionality complies with BS8621 standards, making it a safe and compliant choice for main exit doors where a quick escape may be required in an emergency.
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the keyhole. This model features a 40mm backset, which is a narrow-style measurement. To ensure compatibility, measure from the edge of your door to the center of your current cylinder before purchasing.
Yes, the Yale PBS4 features automatic deadlocking. As soon as the door is closed, the bolt is secured against end pressure, providing immediate high-level security for your property without the need to manually turn a key from the outside.
The internal body of the lock includes a push-button snib. This allows you to hold the bolt in the retracted position, preventing the door from locking automatically. This feature is particularly useful when you need to move in and out of the property frequently without using your keys.

PBSKEY ( of Stock)
The Extra Key for Yale PBS Locks is a precision-manufactured component designed to operate the cylinder mechanism of the Yale PBS series rim locks. These keys are used when additional access points are required for multiple residents or staff members, or to provide a secure backup in the event of a lost original.
Commonly utilised in residential and commercial settings, these keys integrate seamlessly with the internal security pins of the PBS lock range. They are ideal for providing spare keys for new tenants or family members and replacing worn or damaged keys to maintain smooth lock function.
As a specific accessory for the Yale PBS range, these keys maintain the integrity of the security system, ensuring that the deadlocking and latching functions remain fully operational from the external side of the door. Use of genuine-profile keys ensures long-term reliability and prevents premature wear of the cylinder pins.
