More control at the camera.

The motorized varifocal lens adjusts framing and focus without changing the camera. Audio and alarm connections also allow supported wired equipment to be integrated. Lens movement changes the field of view; this is not a pan-and-tilt camera.

Private areas stay private.

Privacy masks hide sensitive parts of the image, such as a neighbouring window. Detection zones have a different job: they decide where movement should trigger attention. Separate permissions control who can view live video, recordings and settings, with two-factor authentication and session controls protecting account access.

Keep the moment. Check the original.

Search the archive by events and date, then export the relevant clip instead of sharing hours of footage. Ajax digitally signs supported video exports; Ajax Media Player can check their authenticity and identify modification. It is a way to check a recording, not a guarantee of legal admissibility.

What you need. Fitting and setup.

Before installation

Plan a Cat6 Ethernet cable run to the back of each camera. For PoE, connect the other end to a compatible PoE NVR camera port or a PoE switch connected to your network. A suitable PoE injector is another option.
Without PoE, the camera needs its specified 12 V DC supply as well as the Ethernet connection. Standard Ajax NVR and NVR H recorders do not supply camera PoE power.
For recordings, add a compatible microSD card or a network recorder with a suitable drive. Recording storage, network cabling and power equipment are separate requirements.

Fitting and setup

Have the installer check the view and cable route before fixing the camera. Use suitable fixings, protect external connections with the specified waterproof connector and seal cable entries. Add the camera to the Ajax app, adjust its view, configure recording and detection areas, and test day and night coverage.

An Ajax alarm hub is optional for linked alarm features; it does not replace the camera power supply or video recorder.

Power and network equipment

For one camera on an existing non-PoE network, the Grandstream injector provides active PoE+ power: connect the network to its LAN input and the camera to its PoE output. For several cameras, a suitable Uniview or Reyee PoE switch provides powered camera ports and a separate network uplink.

Use one suitable power route, not an injector and a PoE switch for the same camera. Match the camera's PoE requirement and maximum power demand, both per port and against the switch's shared budget. Keep the switch or injector indoors; outdoor cameras still need protected connections and suitable cable routing.

FAQs

Use the installation conditions and enclosure rating for the exact camera. A weather-rated camera still needs correctly protected cable connections and a suitable mounting position.

A longer focal length frames a narrower area and can help concentrate detail on a more distant subject. Resolution, mounting position and lighting also affect the usable image.

No. PoE is available only on recorders with suitable built-in PoE ports. Other installations need a compatible PoE switch, injector or separate power supply, as specified for the camera.

HLVF uses a motorized 2.8-12 mm varifocal lens. The focal length can be adjusted remotely; resolution is a choice of 5 MP or 8 MP hardware. Lighting, placement and distance remain important.

Video uses the wired network and can be managed in Ajax apps without an alarm hub. A compatible hub is needed for the associated alarm devices and alarm-triggered video scenarios.

Plan suitable PoE or separate DC power and recording storage. A microSD card can store footage in the camera, or an Ajax NVR can record to a compatible hard drive. An alarm hub does not power the camera or store its video archive.

Ajax lists ONVIF Profile G and S conformance and RTSP support for this camera range. These provide routes for compatible third-party video equipment, but do not guarantee every Ajax app, AI or alarm-scenario feature in another system. Check the exact integration before ordering.

BulletCam HLVF does not fit MountCam. Check its dedicated mounting instructions and cable connections before installation.

Connect cameras to the four PoE ports and use the separate RJ45 uplinks for the network or recorder. Keep the switch indoors within its operating temperature range and allow space for ventilation. Web or UNV-Link PRO management provides access to the switch and its remote PoE controls.
