Fitting Guide
Tools: a tape measure, pencil, spirit level, the correct hand screwdriver and the supplied bracket; drilling tools are only needed for new preparation after checking the door construction.
Before you start
Position the whole knocker before marking anything. The urn is 151 mm high and 77 mm wide. Its separate bracket drawing marks 40 mm across the upper fixing centres and 36 mm from the upper fixing line to the lower fixing centre. Use the actual supplied bracket alongside both drawings to check the location and available fixing depth.
Fit and check
- Mark a level centre line and hold the complete knocker in position. Check clearance for its full swing and confirm the strike area sits on a suitable, solid part of the door.
- For replacement, compare the old holes with the bracket before removing the old knocker. For new holes, check both faces for glazing, reinforcement and other hardware; choose fixings and a drill size specified for the actual door and supplied bracket.
- Fix the bracket level using the supplied mounting arrangement, then attach and secure the knocker as shown in the pack instructions. Keep its finished surfaces protected while working.
- Check that the knocker is secure, swings freely and meets its strike correctly without catching the door or nearby furniture.
For a viewer-hole version, the separately supplied viewer has its own hole size, door-thickness range and fitting instructions. Confirm these before preparing a viewer hole.
