Fitting Guide
Tools: a tape measure, the correct hand screwdriver, a door wedge and a soft cloth.
Before you start
These regular escutcheons have a 70 × 50 mm face, 38 mm horizontal fixing centres and 12.8 mm maximum depth. Check both faces of the door, the cylinder profile and the preparation drawing. Confirm the new furniture covers the existing preparation and leaves the cylinder and key clear.
Fit and check
- Keep the door open and photograph the existing fittings before releasing their fixings. Protect the finished door and support both sides where they are connected.
- Offer up the new mounting components on both faces. Compare all fixing positions with the preparation drawing and check the cylinder projection with the complete escutcheons in place.
- Fit the mounting parts and covers in the sequence supplied with the set. Start screws by hand and tighten evenly without pulling the door skin out of shape.
- Check the escutcheons are secure and the key inserts, turns and withdraws freely. Test the lock with the door open before closing it.
The preparation drawing identifies dimensions that may follow existing holes. Establish the exact preparation and fixing method before making new holes; do not treat the face size as a drilling template.
