Fitting Guide
Tools: a tape measure or ruler, the correct hand screwdriver for the fixing screws, a door wedge and a soft cloth.
Before you start
Measure your existing handle before buying: fixing centres are the distance between the two screw centres; lock centres (PZ) are measured from the handle spindle centre to the centre of the cylinder.
- Lever/lever: 92 mm PZ with either 211 mm or 122 mm fixing centres.
- Lever/pad: 92 mm internal and 62 mm external PZ, with 211 mm fixing centres.
The Dimensions image shows the 211 mm lever/lever version. Use the matching drawing links below to compare both faces, backplate coverage and the position of the upper screw. On the 122 mm version the upper fixing sits below the lever. Check door thickness, spindle arrangement and clearance around the frame as well.
Fit and check
- Open the door and hold it securely with a door wedge. Photograph the handles on both sides before undoing anything, so you can keep track of the spindle and inside/outside arrangement.
- Support the outside handle while you undo the fixing screws from the inside. Lift off the two halves and withdraw the spindle, keeping the old parts together for comparison.
- Compare the new spindle and screws with the door thickness and lock. Offer up both handles without forcing them: the spindle must engage the lock and both handles, and the fixing holes must line up. Follow the supplied instructions for any spindle or screw adjustment.
- Fit the two halves in the correct inside/outside positions. Start the fixing screws by hand, then tighten them evenly with a hand screwdriver. Stop if tightening makes the handles bind; check the alignment rather than forcing the lever.
- With the door still open, check that the lever returns, the latch retracts and the key and multipoint mechanism operate freely from both sides. Only then close the door and check normal locking and unlocking. Keep the key with you during the test.
For a lever/pad replacement, keep the pad on the correct side and confirm the original key-entry and locking operation is retained. This guide covers replacement in matching existing preparation; a different fixing pattern needs assessment before new holes are made.
