Fitting Guide
Tools: the window key, a tape measure or ruler, the correct hand screwdriver and a soft cloth.
Before you start
Unlock the window and compare the new handle with the existing espagnolette mechanism. Match the fixing pattern, spindle size and spindle length measured from the back of the handle base. Check the handle clears the frame, blinds and reveals through its movement. Use the actual old spindle for comparison rather than assuming every espagnolette handle fits.
Fit and check
- Open and safely support the window. Put the old handle in a position that exposes its fixing screws, noting the handle and lock position before removal.
- Release any screw covers as designed, then undo the fixings while supporting the handle. Withdraw the spindle straight from the mechanism.
- Compare the new spindle and screws with the originals and the required engagement. Follow the supplied instructions for any permitted spindle adjustment; do not force an overlong spindle into the lock.
- Insert the new handle in the same operating position, align the fixing holes and start both screws by hand. Tighten evenly, then refit the covers.
- Test the handle, espagnolette and key lock with the window open. Close the window gently and check the keeps engage and the handle locks normally.
