Fitting Guide
Tools: a tape measure, the correct hand screwdriver, a door stop and a soft cloth.
Before you start
Match the existing sliding-door handle and mechanism to both drawings: 154 mm fixing centres, 92 mm spindle-to-cylinder centres and a 248 × 32 mm backplate. Check the side view, door thickness, operating spindle and clearance when the door slides past the frame.
Fit and check
- Open and secure the sliding door so it cannot move while you work. Photograph the inside/outside arrangement and check the lock operates before removing the old handle.
- Support the outside part while releasing the fixing screws. Keep the spindle, screws and both handle halves together so their positions can be compared.
- Dry-fit the new set. Check the spindle engages the existing mechanism and both fixing holes align; the handle must not foul the frame, another leaf or a screen.
- Fit using the supplied mounting instructions, starting screws by hand and tightening evenly. Check the lock and any handle-operated action with the door open.
- Slide the door slowly through its travel, then close it and check locking and unlocking without force. Binding needs the alignment or mechanism checked before normal use.
